PHASE 1 : BUILDING SHUTTLE MINIATURE
Saturday, July 21, 2007
Due to the launching ceremony of Malaysia's 50th Independence Day Anniversary Celebration on the 5th July 2007, we managed to build a shuttle miniature by using a mounting board as the wing structure, 5 plastic bottles as the body and 2 rolls of masking tape as the outer layer skin. The 1 and a half meter model was then sprayed to white, to get the look of a real
space shuttle.
This is the look of the model with half of its skin

Project Objectives
As a support to our goverment effort to send a Malaysian born astronaut to outer space, we are going to present you our replica of a full-spec space shuttle, build by using waste or recycle materials. To give awareness to the pupils and public the benefit of recycling and help to make our environment clean and healthy, we hope that this project will atleast educate our society to appreciate and to keep our earth clean. Together with this, we are going to make presentations and competitions related to the project and let the community get involved with the project.
Project Structure
We will be doing two sessions which are as follows:
1. Recycle Materials Collection Week
:: 1st week : bottle/plastic materials collection
:: 2nd week : drink cans/tin can collection
:: 3rd week : papers collection
2. Implementation
:: build the shuttle
:: multimedia presentation on space exploration
:: quiz, drawing competitions
Group target
School students, teachers and community. The model will be displayed at Cyberkids@skkg section at the school's Balai Bacaan. As the shuttle being displayed, the pupils and community, especially the parents who come to fetch their kids after school can look at the built model.
Budget Details
1) Papers [A4s, color and etc.] = RM 100
2) Paints [Oil paints, sprays and etc.] = RM 200
3) Stationaries [Masking tapes, glue and etc.] = RM 50
4) Souvenirs/prizes [ for internal competitions] = RM 150
5) Sand [to mount the replica] = RM 100
Expected Outcome
To reveal how the space shuttle operates and technology behind it. As we are going to send our own astronauts, we can give the community an insight how these high tech goodies works and expose the science behind it.
To educate the pupil and community on what recycling is all about. With this, we can help to save our world from global warming and green house effect and make our environment clean and healthy.
